SWANA MN/ND Chapter — 2026 Student Scholarship Application

The SWANA MN/ND Chapter is committed to fostering the next generation of solid waste and materials management professionals. We are pleased to offer scholarship funding to students and trainees pursuing education or careers in this field.

The solid waste industry is broad and growing and so is this opportunity. Whether you're studying engineering, environmental science, business, pursuing a commercial driver's license, or enrolling in a vocational or trade program, we encourage you to apply.

2026 Scholarship Fund: $3,000

Depending on the number and quality of applicants, the Chapter will award one or two scholarships of no less than $1,000 each. Scholarships are paid directly to the recipient's institution.

Application Deadline: August 7, 2026

Recipients will be notified by August 28, 2026. Awards will be announced at the December 2026 SWANA MN/ND Board Meeting.

Eligibility

Applicants must be currently enrolled in or accepted to a post-secondary education or training program, including college, vocational school, trade programs, or similar.

Required Application Materials

• Completed online application form

• Current high school or college transcript

• Proof of enrollment or acceptance (acceptance letter, tuition statement, or enrollment confirmation)

• Cover letter describing how your education or experiences relate to solid waste, recycling, the environment, or a related field
