Steve Vrchota | Pope Douglas Solid Waste Management
Steve Vrchota has worked in the Waste to Energy and material separation industries for over 30 years. He went to school at the University of Minnesota, earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in material separation technology. Steve’s thesis project focused on metal separation from electric arc furnace dust. He spent 13 years at Great River Energy as a boiler engineer, construction manager, and plant manager. After a few years consulting on mixed waste processing plants, Steve is currently in the position of Director for Pope/Douglas Solid Waste Management Board and oversees the operations of the Mixed Waste Processing Facility, the Waste to Energy plant, and recycling and recovery operations.
